The American star R has fallen
The federal court in Brooklyn pronounced the heavy sentence against the 55 year-old singer. Nine months prior, the veil had been lifted on the issue of sex crime within the black community.
The judiciary described him as “criminal and predatory” and “manipulative and controlling.”
R. Kelly’s gospel-influenced voice, and sexually explicit lyrics, have sold over 75 million records around the world, making it one R’s greatest commercial successes.
In 1998, the singer won three Grammy Awards with “I Believe I Can Fly.” However, his success was marred by rumors and suspicions about sexual violence. He resisted financial agreements that included confidentiality clauses.
Before the era
R. Kelly was born in Chicago on January 8, 1967. He was raised in Chicago by his mother and four siblings. He revealed in a 2012 autobiography that he saw his first sexual scenes at the age of eight and was then ordered to take photographs. He claims he was also the victim of a rape that occurred at the same time, by a woman.
R. Kelly, who didn’t go to high school but is considered illiterate has 14 albums. He is a singer in the subway. His life will be changed when he is spotted at a barbecue in Chicago by an executive from Jive Records. They signed him in 1991.
His 1993 solo album “12 Play”, featuring the extremely sexual titles “Bump and Grind” (and “I Like the Crotch On You”), remained at the top R chart for nine consecutive weeks.
