The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, has declared “an absolute respect to the US internal political position” in relation to the sanctions imposed by Washington against a high position and an institution of the Castro dictatorship.
Sánchez, in an interview with the CNN Spanish canal, insisted that “I have asked the Cuban government to start all the transformations, the reforms that are needed, so that Cubans can, themselves, without interference from anyone,
Finding your way to enjoy the rights and freedoms that, fortunately, my country enjoyed for many years. ”

Sánchez insisted that the protests in Cuba are not only due to the dictatorial nature of the regime.
“The Covid is giving very hard in Cuba,” he said, and, because of it, “in the international community we must do an exercise of solidarity for the Cuban people donating dose and effectively helping to protect the society of Cuba.”
Paradoxically, Cuba is not part of Covax, the international mechanism coordinated by [Nations, WHO] to distribute vaccines between developing countries.
The only vaccine available on the island is of national production and the Government of Díaz Canel and Raúl Castro has refused to share information about it with the international community.

The Covid-19 has had, according to Sánchez, “a translation in a fundamental sector, and even more as a result of the embargo, which is the tourism sector, which is suffering from a unparalleled fall.”
A few minutes before, in the course of the same interview, the Spanish president had eluded answer the question of whether the current reimburst of COVID cases in Spain will have a negative impact on the tourist season.
On Wednesday, in an informal conversation with journalists, Sánchez had remembered that both the PSOE and the PP oppose the embargo to Cuba.
