Today, Tuesday April 11, the Catholic Church honors Saint Stanislaus.
Bishop of Krakow since 1072, Stanislaus was a caring shepherd for the poor and a great defender of faith and morals.
According to the Vatican website, he did not hesitate to excommunicate the King of Poland Boleslao II for his dissolute life; precisely for this cause he was martyred in 1079.
The Catholic saints are the group of people recognized by the Church as saints or blessed on a specific date. The Roman Martyrology is the document that names and distributes in the calendar the almost 7,000 saints and blessed recognized by the Church.
