Kamenz (dpa/sn) – The majority of those employed in Saxony work outside of their own place of residence and commute to work. Last year, this affected 1.02 million people, the State Statistical Office said on Thursday with reference to the “Community Atlas Germany”. This contrasted with around 970,000 men and women who worked in their place of residence. According to the statisticians, commuter magnets are the three largest cities in Saxony: Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz.
The statistics include commuter numbers for all employed persons and were created for the first time in this form, it said. Therefore, no statements about trends are possible. Interested parties can use an interactive map on the Internet to call up data on commuters for their respective municipality.
