Dresden (dpa/sn) – The Dresden public prosecutor is bringing charges against a man who is said to have set fire to his prison cell last year. The 56-year-old set fire to rubbish and newspaper in his cell at Dresden Prison in November 2021, the public prosecutor said on Tuesday – according to his own statements in protest against the fact that he had been denied an oxygen device for too long.
According to the public prosecutor, the fire caused damage of around 5,000 euros, and the cell is said to have been uninhabitable for several weeks. The District Court of Dresden will now decide whether to admit the charges.
