Leipzig (dpa/sn) – Employees in the metal and electrical industry in Saxony have called attention to their demands in the ongoing wage negotiations with renewed warning strikes. On Wednesday morning, around 1,900 employees at BMW in Leipzig stopped work for around one and a half hours, as an IG Metall representative said on Wednesday. According to IG Metall, further warning strikes were planned in Dresden, Chemnitz and Wurzen.

The union demands eight percent more money for a term of twelve months. A few days ago, the employers made an offer that included a tax-free inflation compensation premium of 3,000 euros. They only promised a percentage increase in salaries. However, the union insists on it and demands a new offer. There is no new hearing date yet.
