Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – According to the Ministry of the Interior, around 1,900 people took to the streets in Saxony-Anhalt on Monday against high inflation, the Ukraine war and the energy policy of the federal government. A ministry spokeswoman said on Tuesday that there were 29 meetings across the country. On Boxing Day a week ago, the ministry only counted around 190 demonstrators at ten events. However, the number of participants has been declining for weeks.
Overall, during the events on Monday, criminal proceedings were initiated for the use of license plates of unconstitutional organizations and for hit-and-run accidents. Otherwise, the events remained largely trouble-free, the spokeswoman reported.
