Halle (dpa/sa) – In the summer of 2021, around 18,000 road accidents were recorded by the police in Saxony-Anhalt. Among them were around 2,500 accidents with serious damage to property or personal injury, as the State Statistical Office in Halle announced on Monday. The accident figures for the months of June, July and August were slightly higher in the years before the pandemic. According to the statisticians, around 19,000 accidents occurred between 2017 and 2019.

According to the statistics authority, the months with the highest number of accidents are usually the autumn months, when the weather has a major impact on accidents. For example, around ten percent more accidents happened in October 2021 than in June of the same year.
