Burg (dpa/sa) – An abandoned suitcase in a regional train caused a police operation in Burg near Magdeburg. Travelers discovered the suitcase on Monday morning in a train that was ready to depart, the police said. After no owner was found, officials would have cleared the train and platform and blocked the track. Federal police specialists gave the all-clear: the suitcase contained spices, groceries and a passport.

The train was able to continue its journey with a delay of about three hours, it was said. Whether the suitcase belongs to the owner of the passport found will be determined according to the information from Monday. The federal police point out that similar cases occur again and again and ask passengers to keep an eye on their luggage at all times.
