Thale (dpa/sa) – After a storm in early September, the Bodetal in the Harz Mountains will remain closed until spring 2023. Landslides and fallen trees had severely damaged some hiking trails between Treseburg and Thale, a spokesman for the city of Thale said on Monday. The state forestry service Ostharz and the city of Thale now want to prepare the hiking trails again in October. After the usual annual winter closure from the end of October, the Harzer Hexenstieg is scheduled to reopen in spring 2023.
According to the city spokesman, the Schurre to Rosstrappe hiking trail was so badly damaged that an extensive damage report had to be drawn up. “A reopening of this hiking trail in 2023 unfortunately seems very questionable at this point in time.”
