Halle (dpa/sa) – The Halle Chamber of Crafts warns that companies will suffer from the gas levy due from autumn and could pass the costs on to consumers. “The level of financial burdens for medium-sized businesses has been exceeded,” said Managing Director Dirk Neumann on Monday in Halle. “The gas levy will lead to annual additional costs of 2500 to 3000 euros for an average craft business in the chamber district.” A significantly higher load is to be expected in the energy-intensive trades such as bakeries and metal construction. Companies would have to pass on costs to consumers and feared for their existence.
In order to support gas importers, customers in Germany will have to pay significantly more for their gas from autumn. The amount of the state gas surcharge will be 2.419 cents per kilowatt hour, as was announced on Monday. With the levy, increased procurement costs are passed on by importers to customers.
