Halle (dpa/sa) – According to the authorities, around 121 million euros in compensation for loss of earnings have been paid out in Saxony-Anhalt since the beginning of the corona pandemic. This affected around 144,000 applications, as the President of the State Administration Office, Thomas Pleye, announced in Halle. The authority has issued a total of 150,000 notifications so far. 6,000 applications were rejected because they were not eligible for compensation.

Priority was given to applications for compensation because parents were unable to work due to corona diseases with their children quarantined, as well as applications from the self-employed. The corona pandemic arrived in Saxony-Anhalt in 2020.
