Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – The pandemic staff in Saxony-Anhalt’s Ministry of Health is being downsized due to the current corona situation. “With most of the containment measures no longer being taken and against the background of the current number of infections with predominantly milder courses of the disease, the staff unit can be restructured,” said Health Minister Petra Grimm-Benne (SPD) on Tuesday in Magdeburg.
However, the pandemic staff will not be completely dissolved. The administrative and technical tasks will therefore continue to be taken over by the office. If the epidemiological situation requires it, work can also be ramped up again. The work of the staff unit was essential for crisis management, stressed Grimm-Benne.
According to the information, one of the main tasks of the pandemic staff was regular situation reporting. The coordination of support services for the health authorities, in nursing, vaccinations and tests as well as the monitoring of containment measures were part of the area of ??responsibility. The pandemic staff was set up in March 2020 and, according to the Ministry of Health, had a changing workforce of around ten employees. Up to 70 employees were directly involved.
