Halle/Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – According to Saxony-Anhalt’s Economics Minister Sven Schulze (CDU), the future center for German unity and European transformation planned in Halle will be an important place for all Germans. It will take many people to Halle, Saxony-Anhalt and East Germany, he said on Twitter on Tuesday evening. Schulze sees the jury’s decision in favor of the city on the Saale as “great news for Halle and Saxony-Anhalt”. Five applications were last in the running. In addition to Halle, there were Frankfurt (Oder), Eisenach, Jena and the duo Leipzig and Plauen. The federal government wants to invest around 200 million euros in the center. The jury awarded Halle the contract on Tuesday.
