Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – Four illegally entered Nepalese nationals were discovered in a truck at the Börde Nord rest area on Autobahn 2. The driver had heard knocking noises from the loading area on Sunday morning during his rest break, as the Magdeburg Federal Police Inspectorate announced on Monday. The truck contained two women and two men between the ages of 24 and 29. They were doing well given the circumstances. According to the federal police, during the interrogations it turned out that the Nepalese in Romania had climbed onto the loading area with the help of a smuggler and traveled with them for two days.
There is no evidence that the driver knew about the lock. The people who were smuggled were handed over to the state initial reception facility in Magdeburg, it said. The Federal Police Inspectorate in Magdeburg has also initiated investigations into the smuggling of foreigners and four criminal proceedings into illegal entries. According to a spokeswoman, it was the eleventh smuggling discovered in a truck in Saxony-Anhalt this year.
