Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – Saxony-Anhalt’s Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) called on people in his New Year’s speech to look to the future with confidence. “Despite some imponderables, we should also see an opportunity in the current crisis, because necessary transformation processes in the economy and society can be implemented more quickly. Saxony-Anhalt is still an excellent location for the future and offers investors the best conditions,” said Haseloff, according to the State Chancellery.
The head of government also thanked the people of Saxony-Anhalt for their willingness to help. Funds and donations in kind have been collected for the people of Ukraine in many places. “Putin’s aggression, which violates international law, also threatens our freedom and democracy. This war has destroyed many certainties. Our thinking and our actions were primarily determined by the consequences of this conflict, which were unimaginable a year ago.”
The effects of the war can also be felt in Saxony-Anhalt, said Haseloff with regard to the energy market. The federal and state governments have mitigated the effects of the crisis. According to the CDU politician, the state government wants to continue to do its utmost to avoid social hardship and loss of prosperity.
