Halle (dpa/sa) – Private households in Saxony-Anhalt spent an average of 2388 euros per month on private consumption last year. The value is above that before the corona pandemic, as the State Statistical Office announced on Friday. In 2019, households in Saxony-Anhalt spent an average of 2190 euros, in the first year of the pandemic (2020) expenditure shrank to 2173 euros.

According to statistics, the pandemic has put the brakes on spending on transport and mobility. Households spent an average of 253 euros per month in 2020, a drop of 19 percent compared to the previous year. In 2021, spending rose again to 370 euros – well above the level before the corona pandemic.

Housing costs rose across the board from 2019 to 2021. They are the largest area of ??household spending. In 2021, private households in Saxony-Anhalt spent 818 euros a month on housing, two years earlier it was 709 euros. Expenditure on food and beverages also increased steadily. They were thus well below the level of 292 euros in 2019. At the beginning of the 2020 pandemic, spending had fallen to 228 euros.
