Halle (dpa/sa) – Significantly fewer goods were handled in Saxony-Anhalt’s inland ports and transshipment points in the first half of 2022 than in the same period last year. At 2.83 million tons, it was twelve percent less than from January to June 2021, as the State Statistical Office announced in Halle on Tuesday. 56 percent of the goods were handled on the Mittelland Canal and 44 percent on the Elbe. With around 1.11 million tons and thus 40 percent, products from agriculture, forestry and fisheries were handled the most, it said.
