Halle (dpa/sa) – The interactive online portal “Mythoskop” of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) wants to offer new access to the complex world of ancient myths. The portal is scheduled to launch on January 11, MLU announced on Wednesday. With the help of the portal, family relationships of goddesses and gods, storylines and locations can be interactively understood. These include visualizations, navigable graphics, animated short portraits of mythical creatures and audio retelling of individual myths.

“The Mythoscope creates a digital tool that enables intuitive access to detailed information while the overall context remains present,” says multimedia designer Anke Tornow, who designed the portal. So far, family trees and encyclopedias have helped to obtain more detailed knowledge about the complex world of myths. The overview quickly suffers.
