Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – The state association of the left in Saxony-Anhalt calls for state price controls in view of high consumer prices. “What you need for everyday life, such as electricity, heating and food, must be affordable for everyone,” said state chairwoman Janina Böttger on Tuesday. People needed security now. “In the short term” prices should therefore be controlled by the state.
The left criticized the previous relief as insufficient. Basic needs sometimes remained unaffordable. The previous one-off payments did not cover the actual additional financial needs of the people. Even the announced measures did not protect against a cold winter.
The federal government has decided on several relief measures. This includes one-off payments. An electricity price and gas price brake are also planned. Further relief, such as a discounted nationwide public transport ticket, is being voted on.
Die Linke plans to underpin its demand for state price controls with a poster campaign at 60 locations in Saxony-Anhalt.
