Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – In the first seven months of this year there were almost as many thefts of solar systems and technology in Saxony-Anhalt as in the whole of last year. A spokesman for the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) announced on Friday that 56 cases were recorded between the beginning of January and the end of July. In the whole of 2021, 62 thefts were reported. There were most cases this year with 13 in the Börde district, followed by the Harz district with ten cases. The “Volksstimme” had previously reported about it.
According to the LKA, 189 thefts of solar technology have been registered since 2020. In the overall period up to the end of July 2022, the more severely affected districts were Salzlandkreis and Börde districts, each with 21 cases, and Stendal with 19 cases. The cities of Halle (Saale) and Magdeburg were least affected, with three cases each.
The perpetrators are mostly professionally organized gangs. The LKA spokesman explained that special tools are usually required for assembly and disassembly. It is not possible for the layman to equip himself with the appropriate tools. How the goods are sold often depends on whether the criminal groups are German or foreign. According to the spokesman, it is known from the investigations that there is a market for inverters in Eastern Europe in particular.
