Halle (dpa/sa) – Public prosecutors in Saxony-Anhalt have initiated more than 40 investigations into suspected terrorism since 2019. This is reported by the “Mitteldeutsche Zeitung” (Friday edition), which appears in Halle, citing a response from the state’s Ministry of Justice to a request from the Left Party. 19 of the listed cases alone revolved around alleged memberships, support services or advertising for the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS).
Numerous procedures were discontinued because no criminal offenses could be proven against the suspects. Due to jurisdiction, cases have also been handed over to other federal states.
