Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – Saxony-Anhalt is hosting the energy ministerial conference for the first time at the end of this month. At the meeting on March 29th and 30th, the state wants to campaign for a reduction in the electricity tax to the European minimum, said Energy Minister Armin Willingmann (SPD) on Tuesday in Magdeburg. In addition, Saxony-Anhalt will propose the Europe-wide introduction of a green industrial electricity price. “Companies that obtain electricity from renewable energies should pay a lower price for it,” says Willingmann. It is about making Europe competitive as an industrial location.
With a further application, Saxony-Anhalt wants to support the accelerated development of the hydrogen economy. What is needed is standardization with regard to the decision-makers. Without a binding legal framework ranging from the generation to the use of the green hydrogen, companies would not be able to develop business models and hold back their investments, the minister said.
At the energy ministerial conference, the responsible ministers and senators of the federal states exchange views on energy policy issues. The federal minister responsible regularly takes part as a guest. According to the Energy Ministry in Magdeburg, Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) will most likely be a guest at the consultations in Merseburg after the end of March.
