Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – The number of new infections with the corona virus per 100,000 inhabitants and week has continued to fall in Saxony-Anhalt. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the registered corona incidence nationwide was 155.8 on Thursday after 177.1 on Wednesday. The authorities reported 562 new infections to the RKI within 24 hours, as well as six new deaths. According to the RKI, 5,344 people in Saxony-Anhalt have died with or from the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.
According to statistics, the independent city of Halle currently has the highest seven-day incidence in Saxony-Anhalt at 213.1, and the district of Wittenberg has the lowest at 111.1. Statewide, the incidence as of Thursday was 262.6. Schleswig-Holstein currently has the highest value in Germany at 420.8, Thuringia the lowest at 103.1.
However, experts assume that many corona cases are not recorded because positive rapid tests are not always followed by a PCR test. Only these are counted in the statistics. In addition, not all health authorities report their data on a daily basis, especially at the weekend and at the beginning of the week there can be a delay.
