Köthen (dpa/sa) – Visitors to the museum in Köthen Castle in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district will soon be able to be guided through the historic rooms using an app. After the presentation of the museum app “Schloss Köthen” on Wednesday, the service should be available from mid-March. The app for augmented reality (AR) experiences commissioned by Köthen Kultur und Marketing GmbH is available for Android and Apple devices.
The project was made possible by funding from the German Federal Cultural Foundation as part of the “dive in” program for digital interaction. According to the cultural foundation, around 31.3 million euros were spent on 200 projects between 2020 and 2022. Cultural institutions should be able to use new ways of exchange and interaction with their audience, it said.
Schloss Köthen received the permit in January 2022 and commissioned software developers as quickly as possible and brought other partners on board. That was a year ago, they said. The app is currently in the test phase.
