Halle (dpa/sa) – Industrial sales in Saxony-Anhalt increased significantly last year, but according to the State Statistical Office, the outlook is clouded. The state office in Halle announced on Wednesday that sales in the manufacturing and mining sectors were 14 percent higher than in 2021. The high growth is due to the price increases, the price-adjusted increase in sales amounted to 6.2 percent. The increase weakened significantly in the final quarter of 2022.

According to the information, employment in industry in Saxony-Anhalt decreased by an average of 1.5 percent to around 108,500 people last year compared to the previous year. The volume of work fell by 2.7 percent to 169.2 million hours, the level of incoming orders fell by around 4 percent adjusted for price. “The outlook for industrial activity is therefore gloomy,” summarized the statisticians.
