Leipzig/Halle (dpa/sa) – The long-awaited rain could possibly turn out to be stormy in parts of Saxony-Anhalt. The German Weather Service (DWD/Leipzig) warned of severe thunderstorms in various regions of the country on Monday. These included the Harz, Mansfeld-Südharz, the Burgenland district as well as the districts of Börde, Stendal, the Jerichower Land and the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld. Locally there could be heavy downpours. Caution is advised because trees could be uprooted, roofs damaged, branches and bricks falling. Meanwhile, the risk of forest fires, favored by the long drought, is still very high in the country.
