Kamenz (dpa/sn) – According to preliminary data, consumer prices in Saxony rose by 7.7 percent last year. The average annual rate of inflation was more than twice as high as in 2021 (3.1 percent) and reached a value that had only been exceeded in 1992 (14.0 percent) and 1993 (10.7 percent), according to the State Statistical Office on Tuesday announced in Kamenz.
Accordingly, the price increases for energy products (29.6 percent) and food (14.9 percent) were responsible for the development. Without their influence, the average annual increase would have been just 4.1 percent.
