Görlitz (dpa/sn) – After the devastating water damage at the Görlitz Theater, the member of the state parliament Mirko Schultze (left) called for comprehensive support for the stage from the city and district. “The water damage to the Görlitzer Haus is a loss for the entire city community,” emphasized Schultze. Everything must be done to ensure that the curtain rises again as soon as possible.

The deluge system on the main stage was triggered last Tuesday after a fault in the fire alarm system. Within a few minutes, the entire stage area was flooded with several thousand liters of water. In the process, all the technical systems were destroyed, such as headlights, link trains and control technology. The damage is estimated at several million euros, but the theater has not yet been able to provide more precise information.

The theater will remain closed until November 26th. Efforts are underway to find alternative solutions, for example for the upcoming Christmas concert, the theater said.
