Dresden (dpa/sn) – The Dresden project “Culture for Future” has a chance of winning one of this year’s International Opera Awards. “We feel honored and encouraged by the nomination,” explained Dresden’s cultural mayor Annekatrin Klepsch (left) on Friday. The award – an international cultural prize – is to be presented on November 28 in Madrid. The project, directed by the Office for Culture and Monument Protection of the City of Dresden, has been nominated in the sustainability category. This is exactly what “Culture for Future” is all about.
Dresden’s cultural institutions want to make sustainability a central issue in their planning. All institutions should implement a corresponding strategy by 2030. It also contains measures for climate protection, for example concepts for using local transport on the way to a concert, not using paper in the office or using environmentally friendly energy and technology such as the solar system on the company roof.
