Suhl (dpa / sn) – After the 1: 3 defeat against Potsdam, the volleyball players of Dresdner SC also lost the second league game in the Bundesliga. Coach Alexander Waibl’s team was beaten by VfB Suhl Thüringen 2:3 (21:25, 18:25, 25:19, 25:19, 16:18). For the hosts it was the first win against Dresden in eleven years.

The six-time German champions from Saxony had already lost 2-0 in sets in front of 800 spectators. Especially in the second round, the DSC women weakened in acceptance and defense, made slight mistakes and lacked penetrating power in attack. But with a significant increase in performance in all elements, the guests fought their way back into the game and managed to equalize the set.

In the decisive tie-break, however, an 11:8 lead wasn’t enough for them to win. Although they fended off four opposing match balls, the Suhl women secured victory with a block defense after 135 exciting minutes. The young diagonal attacker Lara Berger, who was also the most successful scorer with 29 points, was honored as the most valuable player at the DSC.
