Leipzig (dpa/sn) – The employees of Leipzig’s local transport have demanded investments in sustainable vehicles, in modern infrastructure and attractive jobs. In addition, a coordinated approach by federal, state and local politicians is necessary for local public transport, according to a resolution addressed to Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) and Mayor Burkhart Jung (SPD) on Wednesday decided during a works meeting and disseminated by the works council.
The employees of the three Leipzig public transport companies wanted to make their contribution to climate protection, the energy and transport transition and digitization, it said. However, the decisions made at a federal-state conference at the beginning of November are not sufficient.
An identical petition was sent to the Bundestag, the state parliament and the city council.
