Chemnitz (dpa/sn) – Many gas and electricity customers of the energy supplier Eins have to shoulder strong price increases in the new year. The company announced on Friday that the working price for electricity in the basic supply would rise from just under 27 cents to almost 53 cents per kilowatt hour. The basic price also increases. All in all, customers with the basic supply would have to pay more than 500 euros a year for an annual consumption of 1800 kilowatt hours. Gas customers are also being asked to pay significantly more. With an annual consumption of 15,000 kilowatt hours in the basic supply, they would have to pay around 1170 euros more than before, the company calculated.
The price increases were justified by the sharp rise in procurement costs. According to its own statements, Eins supplies around 400,000 private and commercial customers in Chemnitz and southern Saxony with electricity, natural gas, heat and water, among other things. Exactly how many customers are affected by the higher prices was not mentioned. Mainly customers are affected in the basic service, partly depending on the contract period but also customers of other products, it said in a statement. You would be informed in writing.
