Dresden (dpa/sn) – In Saxony’s ski areas, winter sports enthusiasts can look forward to fresh snow and good conditions on Wednesday. According to the German weather service, the renewed onset of winter caused up to ten centimeters of fresh snow. It also snowed in the lowlands: around nine centimeters in Leipzig and up to five centimeters in Dresden.

On the highest mountain in Saxony, the Fichtelberg, there is currently around 55 centimeters of snow – and it’s still snowing, according to the Fichtelberg suspension railway. The conditions are great, and skiing is still going well.

According to the Eibenstock ski arena, the snow cover in Eibenstock (Erzgebirge district) is currently around 60 centimeters high. “It’s just wonderful for skiing,” it said on Wednesday. Whether there will be an increased rush at the weekend depends on the weather and remains to be seen.
