Dresden (dpa/sn) – A gas line was damaged during construction work in Dresden on Monday. According to the fire brigade, gas was escaping from the line in an uncontrolled manner. Residents in Weidentalstraße were asked on Monday afternoon to stay in their apartments, keep windows and doors closed and switch off the air conditioning and ventilation systems, as the fire brigade announced. “Parents who have placed their children in the Weidentalstrasse 6 day care center are able to pick up the children,” said a spokesman for the fire brigade.
The fire brigade is currently on site with 30 emergency services. The responsible network operator and the construction company have taken initial measures to contain the gas leak, it said. The fire brigade gives the all-clear as soon as the danger no longer exists.
