Dresden (dpa/sn) – In view of the prevailing energy crisis, Health Minister Petra Köpping has promised hospitals support. New regulations would have to be found in order to prepare hospitals well for the future, said the SPD politician on Thursday in a debate in the Saxon state parliament. All 78 hospitals in the Free State should be preserved, she said.
Hospitals and care facilities in Saxony are to be supported by the federal government with around 400 million euros, announced Köpping. The support funds would be paid until March 2023. Nationwide, the government had announced support of 8 billion euros.
“These short-term measures are important and correct and make a significant contribution against uncontrolled closures due to the energy crisis,” said the minister. The new hospital law should also come into force at the beginning of the new year.
