Dresden (dpa / sn) – The conservative Saxon Homeland Union sees the founding of the “Alliance Germany” party as a wake-up call for the CDU. It is to be hoped that the founding of the new party will “finally” make those responsible in the Union think, said Home Union Chairman Sven Eppinger on Thursday. The Heimatunion is a grassroots movement within the Saxon CDU – as a result of quarrels, the Saxon offshoot of the Values ??Union in the CDU decided to continue under the name Heimatunion.
The home union chairman Eppinger said that in Saxony as well as in the federal government the CDU has an effective conservative party wing. “If this is given the opportunity to develop within the CDU, the party can again offer attractive politics to voters who have migrated away and transform itself into a successful people’s party. Then it will easily close the existing gap,” he said according to the announcement.
Eppinger said that the CDU must return to the tried-and-tested positions of the “pre-Merkel era” and follow Franz Josef Strauss’ credo that there should be no democratically legitimized party to the right of the Union. “Then Germany doesn’t need a new party that merely means a further fragmentation of the middle-class camp and thus strengthens the left-green camp.”
The Alliance Germany party wants to win members and voters from the conservative camp with the slogan “Freedom, Prosperity, Security”. The newly elected Federal Chairman of “Bündnis Deutschland”, Steffen Große, said there was a “representation gap” in this political spectrum. This came about “because the AfD failed as a coalition partner,” so that voters, regardless of their decision at the ballot box, ultimately always had to live with a red-green policy.
