Dresden (dpa/sn) – The head of the Ifo Institute in Dresden, Joachim Ragnitz, has called for digitization to be promoted in order to counteract the shortage of skilled workers. “If there is a shortage of workers, this increases the incentive to ensure that the workers who are still available are used more intelligently,” Ragnitz said in a publication by the institute.
Digitization can increase productivity, which can ensure prosperity even if the number of people in work falls. “Politicians should therefore pay much more attention to advancing digitization in the state and economy,” Ragnitz demanded.
