Dresden (dpa / sn) – In the south of the Görlitz district, there have been numerous attacks by wolves on livestock. Between Löbau, Niederseifersdorf and Görlitz as well as Weißenberg in the Bautzen district, there were more attacks on sheep, goats and wild animals this year, as the Wolf Department of the Saxon State Office for the Environment, Agriculture and Geology announced on Monday in Dresden.

In most cases, the animals were protected as required. The wolves would have overcome mobile electric fences as well as non-electrified fixed fences. Recently there have been repeated attacks on one and the same gate in the Löbau area. Accordingly, the 1.80 meter high fixed fence was climbed over in at least two cases. The wolf specialist advises animal owners in the region to pay more attention and to take precautions with regard to protective measures for their animals.
