Berggiesshübel/Stade (dpa/sn) – Three young men from Syria have been targeted by the public prosecutor’s office and the federal police in Saxony on suspicion of smuggling. They are accused of having illegally brought Syrian nationals to Germany together with other perpetrators from different countries since September 2021, the Federal Police Inspectorate Berggiesshübel announced on Wednesday. Those affected were smuggled from Austria to Germany via the Czech Republic and had to pay up to 12,000 euros for this.
According to the federal police, the three alleged smugglers – two of them are 31 years old, the third 37 – live in Stade (Lower Saxony). During apartment searches on Wednesday, among other things, storage media and relevant documents were secured. At the request of the Dresden public prosecutor’s office, an investigating judge at the Pirna district court issued an arrest warrant against one of the suspects. According to the federal police, 47 officers were on duty in Stade.
