Dresden (dpa / sn) – Nine months after the attack on a couple in Dresden, the public prosecutor’s office has brought charges against a 24-year-old. The suspect from Lauchhammer (Brandenburg) is accused of attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm, according to information released on Friday. He is said to have stabbed a 28-year-old in the Pieschen district on the evening of November 4 and also attacked his girlfriend with the knife when she tried to stop him. The man survived despite serious internal injuries thanks to quick medical help, the 38-year-old was hit in the upper body.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, the injured party had previously asked the man to stop indiscriminately slashing car tyres. The dispute had been clarified, the accused then followed the couple, said a spokesman. The then 23-year-old was arrested and taken into custody, but was released shortly before Christmas and the arrest warrant was suspended subject to conditions. The man had no previous convictions and “was possibly less responsible when committing the crimes”.
