Dresden (dpa / sn) – The left in the Saxon state parliament are demanding a fair distribution of refugees between the federal states and greater financial support from the federal government. The Ukraine refugees have shown that many things are made easier “if strict residence requirements and bureaucratic controls are simply not applied,” explained asylum policy spokeswoman Juliane Nagel on Sunday.
The Left supported Saxony’s Interior Minister Armin Schuster in his call for a different distribution of the refugees between the states. The CDU politician had explained that the previous system was no longer functional after a fixed distribution key. Like other federal states, Saxony has now logged off from the system.
However, Nagel criticized the fact that Schuster should not warn against those seeking protection, but should rather secure serious reception capacities. In addition, the Saxon municipalities would have to be supported, whose reserves for accommodating refugees are dwindling.
