Dresden (dpa / sn) – The Saxon left-wing leadership has spoken out in favor of a clear demarcation from the right with a view to peace demonstrations. “It’s a lie that the right-hand edge of the political spectrum is now suddenly posing as a troupe of peace angels,” said the leaders of the party and parliamentary group on Friday. These forces have always stood for rearmament and militarization. Above all, her sympathy for Russian President Vladimir Putin is unbroken because he is her “ideological role model”.

“We fight for peace and against Nazis, even if Nazis want to hijack left-wing demands for peace,” it said. Anyone who wants to stand up for peace can neither invite the extreme right to their own events nor attend their events or advertise them. On the other hand, one is well advised “not to jump over every malicious stick that right-wing forces throw into public space.”

Left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht and women’s rights activist Alice Schwarzer called for a rally for “peace in Ukraine” in Berlin this Saturday. Thousands of people are expected to attend. Participants could come from very different political camps, from far right to far left.
