Leipzig (dpa / sn) – After searches in the Connewitz district of Leipzig, the background to the operation is still unclear. At the request of the German Press Agency, chief public prosecutor Ricardo Schulz said on Thursday that the police counter-terrorism and extremism center located at the State Criminal Police Office had seized objects. The searches were carried out as part of the investigations by the Leipzig public prosecutor’s office.
According to Schulz, there were no arrests during the operation on Wednesday. The investigations continued. In order not to endanger them, the public prosecutor’s office could not provide any further information on the searches, it said. There are repeated house searches in Connewitz, often on suspicion of left-wing extremist crimes.
