Leipzig (dpa / sn) – For the baby elephant born at the end of September in the Leipzig Zoo, the nameless time will soon be over. The deadline for submitting name suggestions for the little bull ended on Monday. Since the beginning of the Saxon autumn holidays on October 17, interested parties have been able to submit a proposal. “It should be euphonious and originate from the Asian language area,” was the zoo’s specification. After the deadline for entries on October 31st, the lot will decide on the name of the elephant boy.
The bull was born a little earlier than expected on the night of September 25th. According to the zoo, the elephant cow Pantha became a mother for the first time at the age of ten. The birth was not expected until the fourth quarter due to the average gestation period of 22 months for elephants. The father of the young bull is Voi Nam, who was also born in Leipzig.
