Kamenz (dpa/sn) – The number of girls and boys cared for in day-care centers has increased slightly in Saxony. As of March 1, 2022, there were almost 318,000. That was a good 1,500 more than on March 1, 2021, the State Statistical Office announced on Thursday in Kamenz. At the same time, the number of staff in the facilities rose to almost 43,800 – that was around 200 more than in the previous year. 3,072 day-care centers were available to look after the children – 25 more than in the previous year.
In addition, a good 6,022 children were cared for in publicly funded day care by 1,310 childminders. As a result, the number of children looked after fell by almost 600 and that of day care workers by 140.
