Leipzig (dpa/sn) – After the corona-related losses, the number of freshmen at Leipzig University is increasing again slightly. Around 7,000 first-year students started the winter semester on October 1st, slightly more than in the previous year, as the university announced on Tuesday. Around 30,000 men and women are currently studying in Saxony’s largest city. About eleven percent of them come from abroad, including currently more than 100 from Ukraine.
Most of the applications were received at the University of Leipzig for the psychology course, closely followed by the teacher training courses. Around 4,000 young people applied for the 60 places on the Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Most of the first semester students are in law, at almost 700.
