Dresden (dpa / sn) – SPD candidate Albrecht Pallas wants to support the Green candidate Eva Jähningen in the second round of the mayoral election in Dresden. If you look at the overall result, there are realistic chances of working together to bring about a change in policy in City Hall, Pallas wrote on Twitter on Sunday evening. “As I always emphasized during the election campaign: This change is sorely needed so that Dresden doesn’t fall further behind.” Dresden needs a mayor who can tackle the important tasks in the city. Eva Jähningen has his support for this.

Pallas came third with 15.2 percent of the votes in the first ballot behind Jähningen (18.9 percent) and incumbent Dirk Hilbert (FDP; 35.5 percent). Since no candidate achieved an absolute majority, there will be another election in the state capital on July 10th.
