Dresden (dpa/sn) – After a two-year break due to the corona virus, retailers are looking for staff at Saxon Christmas markets. According to the operator, many of the former employees have now changed industry and are no longer available. “We really fight for every single retailer, for every single restaurateur,” said Holger Zastrow, who runs two Christmas markets in Dresden-Neustadt and Pirna, on Thursday in Dresden. In the meantime, some trades would be subsidized so that they come at all. “If we don’t just want food markets, we have to break new ground.”
The city of Dresden is breaking new ground and is organizing a job exchange for Christmas markets next Monday. Around 20 dealers want to present the wide range of job opportunities there to interested parties. They not only have students and pensioners in mind, but also the long-term unemployed, refugees and schoolchildren.
