Leipzig (dpa/sn) – After a friendly start to the day, the first thunderstorms reached Saxony around noon on Friday. As reported by the German Weather Service in Leipzig, there was lightning and thunder in the central part of the Ore Mountains, in northern Saxony and in the Dresden area. More thunderstorms should form in other regions later in the day. Because they only move very slowly, local heavy rainfall is possible. The DWD spoke of 20 to 40 liters per square meter. That goes into the storm area, said a spokesman. It will continue to rain during the night and there could still be heavy rain and isolated storms on Saturday.
